Costco Tequila

Costco holds a special place in many hearts: the fun, the adventure, the super low prices and super large portions. One of the better buys at Costco is tequila, both its own brand Kirkland Signature, and other major brands such as Don Julio or even Clase Azul.

Costco sells five Kirkland tequila expressions, alongside brands such as Don Julio, Casamigos and Clase Azul. Some warehouses also carry mezcal, including Dos Hombres from Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

Kirkland Signature Brand Tequila

Costco’s proprietary brand is called Kirkland Signature, named after its former home of Kirkland, Washington. Its headquarters are now in Issaquah, Washington.

Kirkland Signature’s range includes blanco, reposado, añejo, añejo cristalino and extra añejo. The bottles are labelled 100% blue agave and 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof). Availability varies by location.

How much does Kirkland Signature Tequila cost?

Kirkland Blanco costs about $28 for 1.75 L and Reposado about $17 for 1 L in the Costco Same-Day prices checked on 1 October 2026. The examples below are for ZIP 94105 in San Francisco, before checkout taxes, fees and tip. Warehouse prices can be lower.

Kirkland Tequila Price and Comparison

For Reposado and Añejo, the table gives class minimums where Kirkland does not state an exact age. Blanco is usually unaged; the standard permits less than two months’ maturation. Costco describes its Extra Añejo as at least three years in oak, followed by at least 30 days in French-oak Cognac barrels. Cristalino is aged tequila filtered to remove its color; Kirkland’s bottle is an añejo. Mexico’s tequila standard sets the class definitions.

Nutrition

Plain distilled tequila contains no fat and little to no sugar or carbohydrate before anything is added after distillation. Kirkland Añejo likely contains added sweeteners, and the Reposado may as well. Exact sugar amounts are not stated on Costco’s listings, so we would not promise zero sugar across the range. “100% agave” refers to the sugars used for fermentation; it does not mean additive-free.

Who makes Costco Kirkland Signature Tequila?

Destilería Santa Lucía, NOM 1173, is the best-supported current producer for all five Kirkland tequila expressions. Agave Matchmaker identifies 1173 for Silver/Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Añejo Cristalino. Extra Añejo purchasers also report 1173 on their bottles.

The CRT’s October 1, 2026 Kirkland listing includes both NOM 1173 and NOM 1142. Santa Lucía’s production is in Tesistán, in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco; La Madrileña’s tequila plant is in Tototlán, Jalisco. Individual expressions have changed producers at different times. Match the four-digit NOM printed on the bottle you buy, especially when comparing older stock or reviews. Kirkland Silver vs Blanco: what are the differences?

Silver and Blanco mean the same tequila class, but Kirkland’s newer Blanco came from a different producer. Mexico’s tequila standard permits “Silver” as the international name for Blanco or Plata. The words alone do not indicate a change in aging.

In May 2023 discussions of the new Kirkland Blanco, buyers distinguished its NOM 1173 from the NOM 1142 on older Silver bottles. NOM 1142 is La Madrileña; NOM 1173 is Santa Lucía. Earlier Silver bottles also carried NOM 1472, Fábrica de Tequilas Finos, as recorded in a 2012 bottle review.

Agave Matchmaker still calls the product “Silver” and records the current 1173 version as autoclave-cooked, roller-mill-extracted and twice distilled. The producer changed, although the available records do not establish every process difference from the older NOM 1142 Silver. When using an older review to choose a bottle, match its NOM as well as the name.

La Madrileña and older Kirkland Silver

La Madrileña, NOM 1142, appears in the October 1, 2026 CRT register with Xicote, Mayorazgo, Piedra Azul, Jarana, Corona and Viuda de Romero. These are mostly budget brands. Santa Lucía traces its roots to 1936 and introduced its first tequila in 1940. Its modern distillery was built and opened in the 1990s. The company makes its own brands and produces tequila for other owners, including Costco.

Kirkland’s older Reposado came from Casa Maestri, NOM 1438; older Añejo came from Fábrica de Tequilas Finos, NOM 1472. Their current Agave Matchmaker records identify NOM 1173. The five Kirkland expressions differ in aging and filtration.

Tequilas sold at Costco, with prices

Along with Kirkland, Costco sells tequila from other brands, often in large bottles. Selection varies by warehouse. The prices below are Costco Same-Day examples for San Francisco ZIP 94105, checked on 1 October 2026. “Check warehouse” marks bottles without a verified price for that size; ask your local store for a quote.

Costco says Same-Day item prices are higher than local warehouse prices; the markup pays for Instacart delivery. Local taxes also affect the final bill.

Clase Azul Tequila Costco

Some Costco warehouses carry Clase Azul Reposado in its white and blue ceramic bottle. A current Costco price for the 750 ml bottle was not available in our 1 October 2026 San Francisco check. Ask the local warehouse for a quote before making a trip.

Compare the same 750 ml expression and the final price including tax. A Costco shelf price can be attractive, but availability and savings vary by location.

The tequila is probably more famous for its hand-painted ceramic bottle than what’s inside. Reposado comes in a tall blue-and-white decanter with a bell-shaped cap. Its bottles are handmade and painted in Santa María Canchesdá, Mexico.

Clase Azul also makes some of the most expensive tequilas in the world.

Mezcal sold at Costco

Costco has carried Dos Hombres, El Silencio and Don Ramón mezcal. No Kirkland-branded mezcal appeared in the current listings checked. These are the bottles to ask your warehouse about:

• Dos Hombres Espadín, 750 ml
• El Silencio Espadín, 750 ml
• Don Ramón Joven Zacatecas, 750 ml

Current Costco quotes for these three bottles were not available in the 1 October 2026 San Francisco check. Mezcal selection is particularly local, so confirm the expression, bottle size and price with the warehouse.

Breaking Bad Mezcal Costco

In early 2023, Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul visited California Costcos to promote their mezcal, Dos Hombres. Shoppers at those events had a chance to meet the actors or pick up an autographed bottle.

Dos Hombres is mezcal, not tequila. Ask for its 750 ml Espadín bottle when checking Costco stock and price.

Kirkland’s spirits range extends well beyond tequila. The assortment changes by location and season, especially for aged whiskies and limited releases. Current Costco listings include blended and single-malt Scotch, bourbon, spiced rum and Irish cream; the broader range includes:

Do you need to be a member to buy spirits at Costco?

Not always. Costco’s membership policy allows nonmembers to buy alcohol where state law requires it. Costco Same-Day delivery requires membership; nonmembers can order through Instacart where available, at higher prices.

How Costco alcohol access differs by state

Connecticut: nonmembers can buy from Costco’s liquor department. The state’s package-store rules require public access, and CT Mirror confirms the rule applies to Costco. Some locations have a separate liquor-store entrance.

Texas: a liquor shop beside Costco may be a separate retailer. Texas bars public corporations from holding package-store permits. Ask that shop about its own selection; being next to Costco does not guarantee Kirkland tequila.

Michigan: Costco locations do sell spirits, despite the state-controlled wholesale system. Recent warehouse reports include Kirkland Blanco in East Lansing. Check that location’s current stock and access rules before visiting.

For any warehouse, ask two specific questions: “Can I buy spirits without a Costco membership?” and “Do you have Kirkland Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Cristalino or Extra Añejo?” Bring the item number from the comparison table. Costco recommends checking the selected warehouse or calling because online inventory does not cover every item.
