Arette is made at El Llano in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, NOM 1109. Eduardo and Jaime Orendain launched the brand in 1986, continuing a family distillery history that reaches back to 1900. The name honors Arete, the Olympic gold medal-winning horse. 1 4

Clásico and Artesanal differ in bottle size and production
The square-bottle Clásico range contains Blanco and Reposado. Artesanal has Blanco Suave, Blanco Fuerte, Reposado, Añejo Suave and Gran Clase Extra Añejo. In Japan, the regular bottles in both ranges are 40% ABV and Fuerte is 50.5%. Clásico uses 700 mL bottles; Artesanal uses 750 mL. 1 6
The Japan range’s Clásico Reposado ages about six months, compared with about eleven months for Artesanal Reposado and eighteen months for Artesanal Añejo. The current Gran Clase lot spends about 56 months in used Woodford Reserve casks. 6
Clásico agave is pressure-cooked in autoclaves and ferments in open-air stainless-steel tanks. Artesanal agave cooks for 48 hours in stone or brick ovens and ferments in open-air concrete tanks. Both ranges are distilled twice in copper-coil pot stills; Clásico Blanco and Artesanal Blanco Suave are unaged tequilas made with these different processes. 1
