When shopping, match the year or hangtag, the proof and the bottle size. A retailer may keep the same High Proof page while updating its description or image. The Old Town listing checked for this guide explicitly described the 2025 50% edition; it cannot supply an up-to-date price for a remaining 2024 bottle.
Why the process matters
Distilled to proof concerns the final strength
The 2025 LALO High Proof comes from the still at its 50% bottling strength, with no water added afterward.
LALO described the 2024 High Proof as undiluted. It calls the 2025 edition its first distilled-to-proof release, bottled at 50% ABV without water added after distillation.
LALO uses Highland agave, brick steam ovens, three to four days of fermentation with Champagne yeast, and two distillations. See the LALO production and Arandas map for the wider account.

Choose the flavor and strength you want
| Bottle | Reported flavor | Choose it for |
|---|---|---|
| Core Blanco · 40% ABV | LALO describes sweet potato, cinnamon and dulce de leche, finishing with citrus and tropical fruit. | The lower-cost bottle for Margaritas and Palomas, or for trying LALO’s unaged style at its regular strength. |
| High Proof 2024 · 54% ABV | Christopher Null found a punchier, earthier tequila, with roasted agave, sharp citrus and pepper. | Choose this edition if you want the stronger, more forceful sip he describes and can confirm a 2024 bottle. |
| High Proof 2025 · 50% ABV | Null found less bite than in 2024, with a creamier texture, herbs, lemon and minerality. | A starting choice between the two High Proof editions for someone wanting extra strength with that gentler reported texture. |
Core notes: LALO. High Proof notes: Christopher Null’s November 5, 2025 tasting. The buying choices above use those descriptions and the prices below.
LALO describes the 2025 edition with roasted agave, vegetal and herbal notes, white pepper and salinity. Try a small measured pour neat, then add a little water or ice to suit your preference. That also gives you a chance to decide whether its extra strength earns its place in a spirit-forward cocktail.
A smaller High Proof pour can match the alcohol in core Blanco
| Bottle | Alcohol in 60 mL | More than core | Pour matching the alcohol in 60 mL core |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core Blanco · 40% | 24 mL | — | 60 mL |
| High Proof 2024 · 54% | 32.4 mL | 35% | About 44 mL |
| High Proof 2025 · 50% | 30 mL | 25% | 48 mL |
Those calculations help when adapting a cocktail. A smaller spirit measure changes the tequila-to-citrus ratio; adding water or ice also changes dilution. Begin with a small measured serve and adjust the balance when switching bottles.
